Melancholia

I wish I had the time and mental clarity to write a post about the numerous connections between Michael Powell’s “The Red Shoes” and “Black Swan.” About how certain combinations of personalities can be both destructive and creative, sometimes the two qualities feeding off each other. There is something about how ballet demands such physical immersion that makes it a good metaphor for the total commitment you need for art. Is it worth it or not? Or is it that these types of personalities don’t have much choice in the matter? I don’t know, but please enjoy this gif of Anton Walbrook from “The Red Shoes.”
